The Anti-TPO Test measures the level of antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO), an enzyme critical for thyroid hormone production. Elevated Anti-TPO antibodies may indicate an autoimmune thyroid disorder, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease.
What It Measures:
-
Anti-TPO Antibodies: Detects antibodies targeting thyroid peroxidase. High levels suggest the immune system is attacking the thyroid, potentially affecting its function.
Why It’s Important:
-
Diagnosing Autoimmune Thyroid Disorders: Helps identify conditions like Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) or Graves’ disease (hyperthyroidism).
-
Early Detection: Detects thyroid dysfunction even before symptoms appear, enabling early management and treatment.
-
Monitoring Treatment: Tracks disease progression and evaluates the effectiveness of therapy in diagnosed patients.
Convenient Testing:
No doctor’s visit required. Available via at-home blood collection or at our Patient Service Centers (PSCs) in Central Florida. Nationwide testing is also available for those outside the area.
