Description
The ANA Screen test detects the presence of antinuclear antibodies in your blood. These antibodies are produced when the immune system mistakenly attacks the bodyโs own cells and tissues. The test is commonly used to help identify autoimmune disorders, which can cause inflammation and tissue damage.
What It Measures:
-
ANA Presence: Detects if your body is producing antinuclear antibodies, which may be associated with autoimmune diseases.
Why Itโs Important:
An elevated ANA result may indicate autoimmune conditions such as:
-
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE): A chronic condition affecting skin, joints, kidneys, and organs.
-
Rheumatoid Arthritis: An inflammatory disorder impacting joints.
-
Sjรถgren’s Syndrome: Affects moisture-producing glands, causing dry mouth and eyes.
-
Scleroderma: Causes hardening and tightening of skin and connective tissue.
-
Autoimmune Thyroid Disease: Such as Hashimoto’s or Graves’ disease.
A positive ANA result does not confirm a diagnosis on its own but signals the need for further testing and medical evaluation.
Convenient Testing:
No doctorโs visit required. Available via at-home blood collection or at our Patient Service Center (PSC) in Central Florida. Nationwide testing is also offered for those outside the area, providing accessible autoimmune screening wherever you are.
